The northern tip of the peninsula is merely a one-hour drive, but of course, one would be remiss to overlook the many natural beauty highlights, quaint towns and picturesque lighthouses. Sturgeon Bay offers a Maritime Museum with wonderful Great Lakes exhibits, lots of shopping, movie theatre, winery featuring Door County apple and cherry wines, bike, ski and snowmobile rentals. The
Leathem Smith Lodge property dates back to 1928 when the lodge was built and operated by Leathem D. Smith as Door County's first country club
and is located on 12 acres of landscaped grounds adjoining Highway 42/57 on the north side of Bayview bridge on the Bay of Sturgeon Bay, midway between the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan
in the center of the Door County Peninsula.
